POWER INVERTERS

Home > Private Use > Vehicle Adaptions > Power Inverters

Power inverters are complex pieces of electrical hardware that provide a method of changing or inverting 12 volts to 240 Volt Output.

Power Inverters transform battery supplied power known as direct current (DC) in to a oscillating type of electricity known as Alternating Current (AC). AC current is the kind of power that is found in house supplied from utility companies. AC power is required to run most devices in and around the home today.

There are two different types of inverters:
1 Modified Sine Wave Inverters or Square Sine wave inverters are the most common. These power inverters tend to work for most applications except some laser printers, fax machines, oxygen ventilator and other very sensitive equipment. there for if you are just charging a power wheelchair a modified sine wave is sufficient.

2 Pure Sine Wave Power Inverters provide utility Grade Power or sometimes better than utility grade power. These inverters can power any device within its power range. Most motor home power inverters and marine power inverters sold today are true sine wave, this is because many motor homes are used as mobile offices using computers laser printers and scanners and high end equipment used on marine vessels. There for if the inverter is running a life support system or a oxygen ventilator a pure sine wave inverter is the only option.
